About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has become available within our Oral Health team for a Trainee Dental Assistant at the Eltham Site.
This is a fantastic entry-level role designed for someone ready to learn on the job while completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Dental Assisting.
As a Trainee Dental Assistant, you will work alongside experienced clinicians and support staff, gaining hands-on experience in chairside assisting, infection control, sterilisation procedures, and patient care. You’ll be supported by a dedicated team and receive structured on-the-job training throughout your traineeship.
This role contributes to both our public and private dental services and may involve working across multiple sites, including outreach programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to dental clinicians during patient treatments (under supervision)
- Assist with setting up and maintaining clinical environments
- Learn and follow infection control and sterilisation procedures
- Deliver excellent customer service to patients and families
- Participate in training, supervision, and performance reviews
- Support general administrative and reception duties when required
What We’re Looking For:
Mandatory:
- Willingness to enrol in or currently undertaking a Certificate III in Dental Assisting
- Genuine interest in a dental or healthcare career
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to learn
- Ability to follow procedures and instructions in a clinical setting
Desirable:
- Previous customer service or healthcare experience
- Current driver’s licence and access to transport (preferred)
- Understanding of confidentiality and patient care principles
