About the position:

Totally Smiles Townsville is a cosy, family-oriented 3-chair practice offering general and cosmetic dentistry. We are currently seeking a Dental Assistant on a full-time basis, including 1 in 4 Saturdays.

This is an opportunity to join a friendly, supportive, and long-standing team, focused on delivering exceptional customer service and patient care to everyone who walks through the door.

As a Dental Assistant, you will report to the Practice Manager and work closely with the dental team, with exposure to ongoing learning opportunities to further develop your professional skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Assist with patient management, including greeting patients, preparing them for procedures, and ensuring their comfort.
  • Clinical Support: Prepare and sterilise dental instruments, assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, and maintain a clean and organised treatment area.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor dental supplies levels, ensuring the treatment room is well-stocked and organised.
  • Patient Education: Provide patients with post-operative care instructions and educate them about oral hygiene and preventive care.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and other staff to ensure a smooth workflow and positive patient experience.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, as well as regulatory requirements in the dental practice.

What do you need to succeed:

  • Prior experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred, but not essential
  • A Cert III or IV in Dental Assisting is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Capability to address patient concerns and resolve issues with professionalism and empathy
  • Attention to detail
