As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the Administration Officer – Dental Services is responsible for providing high-quality front-desk support and administrative services in a culturally safe and welcoming manner. This role ensures a positive experience for all patients, with a particular focus on creating a culturally appropriate and respectful environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and respectfully.
- Create a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
- Process billing and private health insurance claims.
- Work collaboratively with dentists, prosthetists, dental assistants, and other health professionals.

Skills And Experiences

Experience in a customer service, administrative, or reception role, preferably in a healthcare or dental setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural competency and commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and practice management software or willingness to learn.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a healthcare environment.
- Ability to provide culturally safe and inclusive service to all patients.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.

National Police Certificate.
- Evidence of Work Rights.
Preferred
- Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a dental or medical reception role.
- Knowledge of Medicare and private health insurance claims processing.
- Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) or similar setting.
- Familiarity with dental patient management software (Exact).
- Experience handling sensitive patient information in compliance with privacy laws and ethical standards.
