As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the Administration Officer – Dental Services is responsible for providing high-quality front-desk support and administrative services in a culturally safe and welcoming manner. This role ensures a positive experience for all patients, with a particular focus on creating a culturally appropriate and respectful environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and respectfully.
  • Create a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
  • Process billing and private health insurance claims.
  • Work collaboratively with dentists, prosthetists, dental assistants, and other health professionals.

Skills And Experiences

  • Experience in a customer service, administrative, or reception role, preferably in a healthcare or dental setting.

  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural competency and commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and practice management software or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a healthcare environment.
  • Ability to provide culturally safe and inclusive service to all patients.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • National Police Certificate.
  • Evidence of Work Rights.

Preferred

  • Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a dental or medical reception role.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and private health insurance claims processing.
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) or similar setting.
  • Familiarity with dental patient management software (Exact).
  • Experience handling sensitive patient information in compliance with privacy laws and ethical standards.
