About The Position
Totally Smiles Pakenham is currently looking for an experienced Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join the team on a Part Time basis. Come and join our welcoming and supportive team in our modern 4 chair practice.
Our Dentists and team are patient focused to ensure the highest quality treatments and patient centered care are provided every time. We are based in the heart of Pakenham and close to shops and cafes.
As a Dental Assistant/Receptionist, you will report to the practice manager and work with the dental team, where you will be exposed to more learning opportunities to enhance your professional abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care: Assist with patient management, including greeting patients, preparing them for procedures, and ensuring their comfort.
Administrative Support: Handle phone calls, emails, and inquiries, providing information about treatments and addressing patient concerns or complaints.
Billing and Insurance: Process payments, manage billing inquiries, and assist patients with payment plans and verification.
Records Management: Maintain patient records accurately, ensuring confidentiality and compliance within regulations.
Clinical Support: Prepare and sterilise dental instruments, assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, and maintain a clean and organized treatment area.
Inventory Management: Monitor dental supplies levels, ensuring the treatment room is well-stocked and organised.
Patient Education: Provide patients with post-operative care instructions and educate them about oral hygiene and preventive care.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and other staff to ensure a smooth workflow and positive patient experience.
Compliance: Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, as well as regulatory requirements in the dental practice.

What Do You Need To Succeed
- Prior experience as a Dental Assistant is essential
- Prior experience working as a receptionist is beneficial but not mandatory, however you must be willing to be trained and work on reception
- A Cert III or IV in Dental Assisting is beneficial but not mandatory
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Capability to address patient concerns and resolve issues with professionalism and empathy
- Attention to detail
