NT Health manages the Northern Territory public health system, operating as one system across 5 regions, providing the full spectrum of essential, quality health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the life course.
Oral Health Services operates in urban community dental clinics in the Darwin/Palmerston, Katherine and Nhulunbuy, and provides outreach services to schools-based clinics and remote health centres. As a Dental / Oral Health Therapist you will provide comprehensive, quality clinical treatment, community education and targeted programs. Clinicians are supported by a chairside dental assistant.
Several vacancies are available in Darwin and Katherine and selections at the P1 and P2 level will be made based on qualification and experience. Applications may be assessed on a rolling basis and prior to the advertised closed date, so early submissions are encouraged.
Oral Health Therapist (P1), This position would suit a clinician in their early career. NT Health prides themselves as a career organisation that provides supportive programs to mentor and develop clinicians. As part of an innovative team you will encouraged to provide feedback and participate in quality improvement activities to ensure the Oral Health services continues to evolve its contemporary practice.
Dental/Oral Health Therapist (P2), in addition to the above you will provide clinical/professional supervision and support to students and junior staff, and contribute to a positive workplace culture through your exemplary leadership practices.
To be successful, you are required to have a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Dental Therapist or Oral Heath Therapist, the ability to gain a radiographers permit in the NT and demonstrated knowledge of evidence based clinical practices and techniques. Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion and primary health care principles and an awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture is essential.
